Cyclone Interactive Launches New Web Channel for John Hancock

Content Management Solution for Direct Brokerage


BOSTON, MA - August 17, 2001 - Cyclone Interactive, a forerunner in focused multimedia communications, announced the completion and delivery of a new Direct Brokerage extranet Web site for John Hancock Financial Services. As part of a three year continued relationship between Cyclone Interactive and John Hancock, this comprehensive site features Cyclone's exclusive Content Management and Site Management Solutions as well as a unique implementation of its "Logic Based Reflexive Questioning Solution."

Cyclone Interactive was entrusted with design, construction and implementation of the site dedicated to the Direct Brokerage product distribution channel for brokers and dealers. The new site provides product information, brokerage tools, advanced sales support, investment choices, online support, news, and online account access.

"We needed a site that was extremely functional, visually appealing and built in a way that allowed for continued growth and easy maintenance," said Brian Bolton, Senior Manager, Web Development for John Hancock Financial Services. "Hancock required rapid deployment and because of our strong relationship with Cyclone we were able to make it happen within strict time and budgetary constraints."

As part of this project, Cyclone deployed its exclusive Content Management System, in addition to a Forms Wizard Tool and Fund Viewer Tool on the site.

  • The Content Management System allows client webmasters to monitor and maintain site content using predefined design templates, while distributing content based upon user privileges.  This CMS provides browser-based WYSIWYG (what you see is what you get) editing, document and news management features, user and group controls, and distribution tools.
  • The Forms Wizard Tool is a particular deployment of Cyclone's "Logic Based Reflexive Questioning Solution."  This tool features the ability for site administrators to build a questioning system, where each question asked is based on the users' response to the previous question.  In this instance, the Tool enables users to answer a series of questions in order to receive the correct forms and information necessary to complete an insurance application.
  • The Fund Viewer Tool is a custom development solution provided by Cyclone, which allows users to see investment vehicles for insurance products and annuities.  The administration of this tool allows webmasters to create and update fund names, fund management firm descriptions, and quarterly portfolio profiles.
Part of the success of the rapid launch of the Direct Brokerage extranet was based on Cyclone's ability to leverage pre-existing product and sales information. This information was already resided in another implementation of Cyclone's Content Management System deployed for Direct Brokerage's sister channel, John Hancock Insurance Services. This expansion of the Cyclone Content Management System, based on Hancock's requirements, affords Hancock the ability to add to a central repository of production and sales information, that is generic to most product distribution channels.
